This workshop will teach skills that are immediately useful for researchers, using lessons and datasets that allow researchers to quickly apply what they have learned to their own work. I am really excited about using a curriculum U-M Carpentries has developed to help our researchers work efficiently.

This workshop is focused on reproducible methods for data analysis and visualization using R, bash, and git. The curriculum will include:

* R for Plotting
* R for Data Analysis
* Writing Reports with R Markdown
* The Unix Shell
* Intro to git and GitHub

The target audience is learners who have little to no prior computational experience, and the instructors put a priority on creating a friendly environment to empower researchers and enable data-driven discovery. Even those with some experience will benefit, as the goal is to teach not only how to do analyses, but how to manage the process to make it as automated and reproducible as possible. For instance, after attending this workshop you will be able to:

* Analyze, plot, and report data reproducibly using R and R Markdown
* Use basic Unix shell commands
* Practice version control with git and GitHub
