Opportunity
The Department of Biological Sciences in the Faculty of Arts and Science invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment in Biological Sciences at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2024, subject to final budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will have expertise in eukaryotic microbial ecology, focusing on fungi and/or protists, and demonstrate excellence, or clear promise of excellence, in undergraduate teaching. In addition, the successful candidate will actively participate in curriculum development that supports the department-level Program Learning Outcomes and will be expected to develop a new second-year course on eukaryotic microbial ecology, teach both junior courses and advanced topics in eukaryotic microbial ecology, and demonstrate a commitment to inclusive teaching and learning.
Applicants will hold a Ph.D. in a relevant area of expertise and have a record of scholarship that demonstrates an ability to develop and maintain a productive research program involving undergraduate student researchers. The ability to attract external funding is an asset. Research that provides meaningful opportunities for student projects that develop disciplinary skills and shows a commitment to effective student mentorship is essential.
