The Department of Microbiology and Immunology and the Center for Anti-Microbial Resistance at Cornell University invite applications from scientists focused on Bacterial Pathogenesis and Antimicrobial Therapy for a tenure-track position. While our focus is primarily at Assistant Professor level, other ranks will be considered. This recruitment is part of the Cornell Provost’s Radical Collaborations initiative designed to bring to the Ithaca campus individuals who work at the cutting edge of their discipline and who will contribute new insights to our scientific community. We are seeking an outstanding investigator who brings innovation to the study of the interface between bacterial pathogens and their host, including pathways of therapeutic intervention. Research interests include, but are not restricted to, host/pathogen interplay, bacterial virulence pathways, anti-microbial resistance, the impact of the microbiome, or host-directed therapeutics. Candidates utilizing emergent genomic and functional genetic approaches are particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate would join a highly interactive group of faculty within the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, located in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Research strengths include host-microbe interactions, innate immunity, lymphocyte development and immune-engineering. Cornell University offers exceptional technical resources in many areas, with state-of-the-art core facilities, including genomics, proteomics and metabolomics, flow cytometry, multiphoton microscopy, and in vitro BSL3 and animal ABSL3 facilities.
